General comments/suggestions on lectures:
1. Liked how we are able to not only work problems from homework but also talk through them.
3. N/A
4. Better time management--don't rush through the last slides
5. Held my attention for a longer time than any of my classes.
8. I thought the lectures went well and it was easy to follow along with the notes.
11. I enjoyed lecture most of the time, I know there is a time constraint, but I often felt like too much material was forced into one lecture.
12. NA
13. Should have more time for questions or homework help at the end.
14. Try to work on the timing because sometimes we would not get through every slide and it is helpful when the professors explain it and even the lecture videos sometimes do not cover that slide either.
15. less examples, more time on each
16. I really liked the lecture notes. Because it was guided notes, I was able to pay more attention to what the professors were saying rather than stressing about writing as much information down as possible. Breaking up the notes into slides also helped keep my notes orderly.
17. Fantastic job. However, more examples like the homework would be appreciated.
22. Very much enjoyed the lectures. This was the first class that I was in where I didn'y want to fall asleep.
24. Sometimes the lectures did not encapsulate the material in the homework.
25. Better Examples in Class Please
27. I found that when we were not rushed to complete the lecture and we actually were able to work through example problems as a class that I personally had less trouble on the homework questions.
28. Manage time better, I don't think we ever got through all the material we were supposed to cover in class.
31. Lecture always ran over time and I felt like the last few slides of material were always kind of half taught.
32. Some of the material was breezed through. Hard to avoid with big lectures though.
33. Enjoyed being in this class
37. Great class and professors.
39. More room on our print outs
41. I loved lecture. They were fun and interesting.
42. Lectures were often rushed and not all of the content was covered.
43. They were good
44. Team-taught lecture makes it easier to pay attention
46. N/A
47. Awesome professors made class a lot more interesting.
49. None
51. Longer lectures with more difficult clicker questions.
53. i really enjoyed this class, you can tell the professors and the department has really put forward a great effort
54. The lectures were organized and that made the class more enjoyable.
55. I thought the lectures where really good and I liked how they used objects in their examples. I also liked how they interacted with the students.
56. slower the pace of lectures.
57. n/a
58. none
61. I like the way you go back and forth talking. It keeps us awake a little.
62. nope
65. Great teamwork. All the material was presented very professionally.
66. I thought they were good.
69. Overall is good. however, Prof. McCord's needs to slow down. I get confused
70. overall good. However, lectures goes so fast that I can't build up new information.
71. I know time is an issue, but going over concepts and examples more would be a major help!
72. I thought the lectures were taught at the perfect pace
73. Never seemed to finish all the slides in lecture notes before the end of class.
76. Good
77. I really enjoyed having both professors teach together as a team. I could sense some tension between them at times but nothing I have to complain about.
78. very good wasnt painful to listen too
79. We did not have enough time to go over all the slides during the class period. I think the lectures were too long that is why we could not finish it during the class period. I think doing problems that relate the most to the homework on the lecture then rushing through the lecture
80. The only thing I would change is making the notes a little better. I took a physics class that had notes like this that one could refer to outside of class that were helpful http://www.pstcc.edu/nbs/WebPhysics/Phys2010ClassNotes.htm
Just a thought!
82. The team taught approach was good in the sense that it gave everyone a different perspective on the material.
83. Overall, the lectures were good. The material was taught effectively, however, some material wasn't actually covered simply due to time constraints. If the lecturers could present the material differently, so that all of the material could be covered in the 50 minute time allotted, I feel like some students could benefit.
84. Lectures were good
85. Go a little slower
87. The dual-taught lecture was awesome, it helped keep my attention. I didn't like when the notes were printed 6-8 slides per page because it gave no room for writing and personal notes.
88. None
90. Lecture was very effective. The handouts help a lot
91. N/A
92. N/A
94. I feel the text is a great idea but nobody used them. students must use it to be effective.
96. Lecture are good i feel like we run out of time a lot however and we miss out on homework help.
97. Sometimes it felt like the lectures were rushed. I am not sure if anything can be done about that since there is so much material to fit into the lecture. They did seem to go by really fast though. The demonstrations were very helpful when we had them.
99. none
100. Finish all material on lecture sheet.
101. N/a
102. I thought the concepts were taught at a good pace and in good order, however towards the end of the semester everything felt crammed.
103. I did not feel as though Dr. McCord presented the material as well Prof. Schleter. He was better at explaining the information thoroughly, where as it seemed Dr. McCord was rushed without reason at times.
107. Good introduction to the material, but unnecessary to have to write in the note sheet.
108. The lectures are fine.
109. i learned a lot during lectures and i don't believe much should be changed.
111. Lectures are great, but it is a bummer having the attendance count against you, if all the classes were recorded then I could miss when I needed to when I had personal things come up to still keep up with the material. If every class was like flex Friday that would be optimal. Hopefully this could be implemented in EF 152. The lectures go over the material very well.
112. lectures need to be 1hr.
113. Overall I thought the lectures were very well done and gave a lot of useful help.
115. Was able to hold attention to the material a lot better than most classes.
116. Lectures have been fine tuned to an astonishing degree. Honestly, this is the best class I've taken at U.T, and I wish other professors were required to take classes on classes from Prof. Schleter and his sidekick.

Only suggestion: text/email questions are a great idea, but they are not used regularly enough, and the format is not constant enough. If they are to be used at all, they should be used in every single lecture, and the exact same contact info should be at the bottom of every single slide.
117. Generally good. should try to get to the harder problems instead of talking about the general slides in the beginning
119. I just feel that there was too much information trying to be squeezed into one lecture so it was hard to actually learn. I think homework is what actually taught me the material.
120. Loved the class, yall presented the material very well
122. It was a good lecture and I learned a lot from it.
123. The lectures were very helpful. I can't say that I have ever had teachers of this magnitude before.
124. n/a
126. I feel each professor had their own style and that coupled together they taught in a way that every student should be able to understand.
127. .
128. There's so many math examples that the important steps of doing the problem get skipped over in the rush to finish them all. The lecture content should be focused on quality instead of quantity: make sure the class is understanding all of what you're doing and not just having a vague idea of most of what you're doing.
129. I wished I had attend more of them!
130. lectures were often too short for the amount of material covered. But the notes provided were very helpful
131. I believed that the lectures were helpful.
133. The lectures felt rushed sometimes and it was hard to keep up on some material.
134. loved the class1

General comments/suggestions on the 'Flex Friday' approach:
1. Enjoyed and think it's a great idea.
3. Good if the concept is easy to understand because if the material is hard to understand it is harder to ask questions right away or have it answered right away.
5. It is just hard to do something online for me, and people would get a lot more lazy.
6. I really enjoyed the break from lecture and feel it helped my studying.
8. I thought it was a good idea and let me learn at my own pace. The option to go back and rewatch examples to fully understand what was going on helped a lot. Not going to lectures while still learning new material was nice. It might not be helpful for all lectures but I would not have minded more optional class days, especially on material that I was familiar with.
10. Good
11. The only issue I had was staying focused on the video. I don't think it should be an option to watch videos rather then attend lecture on Monday and Friday but videos should be provided. Maybe in more detail since so much is crammed in lecture, that way students can get more in-depth explanation on the material they need.
12. NA
13. It was a good way to give students a break at the end of the week. And the videos helped because you can rewind them if you dont understand a topic.
14. It is helpful when the professors explain it in person and it is helpful to be able to ask questions in person.
15. Its great. I learn just as effectively and i have much more motivation to watch a video in my pjs than to actually go to class
16. I really enjoyed flex friday. It only made me like this class even more. In my opinion, it should not be extended to other days. I have a feeling that if it was extended to multiple days, people would not even watch the videos or attend lecture.
17. Love it. Nice relaxing Fridays.
22. I think that flex fridays are a good option that provide students a break, however they should stay limited to no more than once a week.
24. It's a great change of pace.
27. I liked flex friday and i believe that flex friday should continue only as flex friday. I feel that, as young college students, if we were given a flex friday sort of option every single lecture a lot more students would have opted to not come to lecture and be tempted to "forget" about the videos and unfortunately fall behind. Although the video lectures are good for the occasional over sleeper.
31. I enjoyed having the option to do this because I learn better at my own pace.
32. I liked it. Allows you to move a little bit more slowly and learn at your pace. Also taught me to be responsible and watch them before class.
33. Good break for kids who need it
41. I tended to not even watch the entire video, just until I got my answer to the problem then I moved on. Maybe having Flex Friday videos every other week would be more effective. Going to the actual lecture wuld have been much more beneficial for me.
42. It was helpful to have a video of problems, but not being able to ask questions right away was sometimes frustrating. The number of flex Fridays was a good amount. There were enough to be efdective but not too many.
43. review the videos afterwards in class
44. I liked them a lot
46. N/A
47. really enjoyed the fact i could rematch the note videos so i could get a better understanding if i didn't know the material.
49. None
50. I enjoyed having the option yet I feel as if I really didn't learn due to the fact that I could've been distracted by doing other things.
51. More questions.
53. i enjoyed the option of flex Friday but found that i still learn better in the lecture hall, the tempting of sleeping in though was sometimes too great
54. It's good to have a break every once and a while, I enjoy the concept of Flex Fridays.
55. I think this is a great thing for student to relax and start the weekend early.
56. they are great
57. N/a
58. videos helped explain the concepts
61. I would go whether or not any of them were flex days.
62. the nice thing about Flex Friday was it made me feel like i had options
63. I feel like if the students are given an opportunity to skip, they will skip. Taking that extra hour just to go to class (its not that hard) can help you learn the subject better. That's why I went to class anyway.
66. I like it but it shouldnt be for every lecture.
69. I love the idea of Flex Friday
70. flex friday is a good idea. I am with it
71. Giving students the option to attend class, but still making them watch videos and answer questions based on the material is a great idea.
72. I liked flex Fridays but i would rather go to lecture instead of having two homework assignments due on the following Monday.
73. Get a noise canceling mic for recording the videos. It was a little weird hearing Professor Schleter breathing.
74. It is fine as is.
76. LOVE Flex Friday
77. I enjoy flex Friday but don't think it should be done instead of other lecture days. There's something about coming to class. I feel like I, as a student, pay attention more than I do watching a video and it's easier to follow along in person.
78. I get more out of the lecture if I am there in class then watching a video but having friday off is nice :-)
80. n/a
82. It's good for giving the students a flexible option on the material but it's hard to answer all possible questions in a prerecorded lecture. This combined with the delay in the discussion board responses if posted after 5 p.m. could possibly be harder for some students.
83. The flex friday lectures were good, however, I feel like the students that didn't attend the friday lectures, were the ones making poor grades on the test. Granted, the lectures are optional, but I feel like learning the material is not optional, so not attending the friday lectures shouldn't be optional.
84. Good for fridays but I probably would not watch them if they were all semester.
85. It was nice, but i still felt like i was missing something
86. If the lectures are all done online, students can play back what the professor said over again if they missed something and not have to ask multiple questions for clarification.
87. I loved Flex Friday because it meant that I could do the lecture on my own time and if I missed something then I could rewind and go back over it. I feel like I learned more from the Flex Friday videos than I did from being in lecture.
88. None
90. I liked having the option to attend lecture or watch the video, however I attended every flex friday lecture because I was already on campus
91. N/A
92. Find a system to where students have to finish the whole video lecture before they are able to answer the questions.
93. While flex Friday is effective when done every now and again, nothing beats the team-taught lectures and I feel that to be successful in class, attending those lectures are extremely necessary.
94. n/a
96. Flex friday is good, but i think if you attend lecture then you shouldnt have to do the videos.
97. I liked having an occasional flex friday because this allowed me to visit my instructor for another class, and I wouldn't have been able to without flex friday.
99. none
100. Clearer explanation on problems in video.
101. Loved I but Recitation should have better supported Flex Friday material.
102. To have it as an option wuld be most effective for me
103. I enjoyed flex Friday overall, the video lectures were very helpful. I feel as though extending flex Friday to include other days of lecture could be a good idea. However, I do believe that some student may take advantage of it and not complete all the work that is required thus hurting themselves.
107. I never took much away from lectures, so it was nice to be able to just watch videos to learn the material.
108. Very good idea
109. I enjoyed the choice to sleep in and i enjoy the fact that the lectures are always a lot smaller
111. Well I just commented about this above in the other comments. In summary: I like the flex Friday idea as a whole.
112. n/a
113. I liked the idea of flex Friday. It was a nice break after all the homework and going to the other lectures and recitation sessions earlier in the week.
114. more flex fridays
115. Its a nice break to be able to sleep in and still get all the information from lecture.
116. Awesome feature of this class. EF 151 made my Fridays something to look forward to. If nothing more, these condensed versions of lectures are wonderful resources to refer back to when studying.
117. It was nice on friday's but should not be every day because no one would learn
119. I think it would cause less commitment as a student if it was for every lecture and student would not truly learn the material.
120. I liked it because I could go back and make sure I understood the concept correctly before moving on
121. Loved
122. I loved the idea.
123. The flex Friday is a good approach, I would continue to implement this.
124. n/a
126. I feel the flex Friday lecture structure was an effective mas of learning the material. If the flex Friday videos were made available for every lecture they would serve to reinforce the material.
127. good idea
128. The flex Friday approach should be enabled for all of the lectures, but it should be opened to do before the actual lecture, so that if a student is having a harder time still after the video and quiz session then they can also attend lecture and ask questions there.
129. It is very refreshing to be able to sleep in on fridays!
130. I loved Flex Friday. I went to every one and it was a more laid back one on one setting. I enjoyed going to lectures more on flex friday.
131. While the concept of making a Friday an optional lecture, I felt like I didn't understand the material as much.
133. I liked the flex Friday because I was able to go back and watch the videos and pause them when I needed to catch up.
134. not in every class, preferible for the easy chapters

General comments/suggestions on the clickers:
1. Think that clicker questions should not be counted as grades but attendance.
3. N/A
5. err nothing
6. The clickers worked flawlessly.
8. There were many times when I just had no grasp on the concept being taught so I would just be guessing on the clicker questions. Maybe wait until after a few examples have been done for some clicker questions.
10. N/A

13. It was a good method of seeing how you compare to the rest of the class.

17. Sometimes forgot mine :(

30. The clicker system keeps us accountable to attend lecture.
31. I don't mind using clickers, they make you pay attention to lecture.
32. Clickers are effective and I like them because they force me to come to class. Also a good grade booster.
33. Clickers help keep students locked in
41. Clicker questions kept me paying attention and kept me from drifting off. Great idea using clickers.
42. Clickers are an effective tool to be able to immediately apply content and think about material being taught.
43. Worked well
44. Good for participation and example questions. Makes you pay attention during lecture.

66. I liked clicker questions.
69. Clicker is extremely tricky, it should be clearer
70. clicker questions are tricky, and Dr. McCord confuses me and makes me choose the wrong answers most of the time because she says something about the question from different perspective that gets me confused every time.
71. Clicker questions definitely helped me not skip class.
72. I think the clicker questions were great for preparing me for the exam
76. Good
78. none
80. They take up a lot of time I feel could be more wisely used. I think they are helpful, but may just ask a little less of them.

103. Clickers were helpful at times to gauge whether or not you were learning the material. They were also a good break from having a constant lecture.
107. Just seemed like a way to take attendance. Otherwise just a waste of class time.
109. Clicker question were a good way to keep peoples attention
111. Having the flex Friday attendance questions count as the clicker questions would be preferred for me.
112. n/a
113. The clicker questions were good for practicing for the concept questions on the exams.
115. Good use for attendance
117. Helped keep my attention in lecture
120. Clickers encouraged participation
122. I don't like the clickers. They don't seem to help much.
123. The clicker is a great way of keeping students honest about coming to class.
124. n/a
126. Clickers make sure that everyone is at least awake during lecture but may not provide the most interaction during class. They're still useful though.
127. .
128. They help ensure attendance for class and encourage students to pay attention.
129. Good way to track attendance
130. clickers were tough but often ended up as concept questions so I was glad they were there.
131. Similar to the EF website, I believe that the clickers were good with giving students immediate feedback on their academic guesses.
133. Clickers were good although there were a couple times I forgot mine.

General comments/suggestions on recitations:
2. We should have recitation more. Everyday would be optimal.
3. Make recitations 3 days a week instead of 2.
4. Some of the tasks were boring and didn't keep our class's attention very well.
5. They helped explain in detail what we discussed in lecture, and it made me think about the material again.
6. I really enjoyed Tyler as my TA he was very effective in working out the problems and explaining what you did wrong.
8. I learned a lot during the recitation periods and my TA helped make sure I understood the topics when I was confused.
10. N/A
12. Tyler was an awesome TA!
13. It was a great way to really understand the topic and how to use them on homeworks/exams.
15. Way too long, lost focus
16. I don't know if it was just my recitation, or just my luck, but I always got the group where somebody never showed up/participated. If somebody was known for not showing up, I think groups should be able to work together to compensate for that missing person.
22. More hands on activities would increase the effectiveness of recitation.
24. They were a helpful recap.
25. Tayler is AMAZING
31. Recitation was usually helpful in better explaining concepts from lecture.
32. I enjoyed them. Tyler is the man.
33. Helpful with class
39. Na
41. My TA was wishy washy, sometimes she would be very helpful and go through the problems in great detail but sometimes she just wanted to get out of there and rushed us through the material.
42. It was very helpful to have recitation be directly related to lecture. It wasn't always set up that way and it is much better now.
43. Good overall a little long though
44. Helpful time to do practice work and ask questions.
46. N/A
49. None
50. Recitation was good yet very boring. I feel as if they lasted way to long
53. i enjoyed working together in the groups to figure out problems, makes me think of what we will be facing in the work world
54. TAs were very helpful, recitation helped me understand concepts that I did not get in lecture.
55. I thought recitation was really helpful and helped on team building skills. I think it also helped with the homework and tests. I also really enjoyed building things in there and wished we could do more of that.
56. ehh not the best
57. Tyler was a good TA very effective, 13/10 would recommend
58. good places to apply the concepts learned
62. Rachel was wonderful
65. Recitations were often rushed to get through all the material in time rather than ensure all students understood it.
66. I like the recitations.
69. Sometime, i feel recitations is a waste of time, but other times it is helpful. I think having part of the recitation to do Hw would be helpful.
70. Having recitation right after lecture is not a good idea. I need to analyze the new lecture before having the recitation.
71. Recitations were awesome. Tyler was a huge help at explaining the material in a way that we all could understand. I would be so lost if it was not for him and recitations.
72. I think recitations were usually pointless. I never rally learned anything from them.
74. The recitations were very good as they are.
76. Good TA
77. I loved having my TA Tyler. He's very kind and extremely helpful.
78. very helpful tyler is awesome
80. Tyler is a very helpful and productive TA.
82. Tyler was very helpful in effectively presenting the material so everyone could grasp the key concepts. He was quick to answer any questions and was willing to work with anyone that needed any extra help. Great TA!
83. I feel like the recitations didn't really help my overall learning of the material. Not once did I look back at recitation material when studying for the exams.
84. It was a good class to be in
85. Some where too long
88. None
90. Recitation was very helpful. The tasks that had to be completed in recitation helped a lot with concepts.
91. N/A
92. Make them optional.
94. Tyler was always willing to help he was a great TA. By far the best TA i have had and Nate was very helpful in the workshop as well.
97. They were helpful to reinforce lecture material.
99. none
101. N/a
102. Helped visualize
103. Recitation is where I felt that I learned the bulk of the material. I would be given the tools to in lecture but learn to apply them in recitation. I did; however, have instances where it seemed like the work in recitation was unlike what was presented to me in lecture.
107. Good in depth teaching of the material.
109. I found them very helpful.
111. Maybe to have it just be a review of questions from homework and online lectures instead of other facets of learning. It gets counted as attendance also, so it would be nice if it focused more on the type of questions that would be asked on the test. Not particularly liking the projects, but if they have to stay, maybe they could have some more structures to the class.
112. n/a
113. The recitations were extremely helpful in learning all of the material.
114. Helpful
115. Good practice
116. Did not seem like the concepts covered in recitation were always obviously related to the concepts covered in exams and on finals. But that may just be me.
117. I really learned the material in recitation.
119. Tyler was my TA and he was great. He was very effective in teaching the material and always brought clarity to confusions i had about lecture.
120. Didn't really learn that much
123. They helped elaborate on the lecture material.
124. n/a
126. I enjoyed the interaction that the recitations provided.
127. .
128. The set-up of having teams for recitations fails epically. Last semester after taking EF 151 I felt that recitation was a waste of time, but this semester after having the similar chemistry discussion set-up I realized it's really just a poorly used opportunity. The chemistry discussion is set-up in a way of having valuable Q&A time while going over the material with the T.A. helping the students understand how to do the problem. The EF recitation is set-up where there's a bunch of math problems thrown at us, and we're expected to work through it as a team. The team system often fails due to a lack of attendance or lack of focus leaving the team with either one or none of the members getting the problems done in a way they understand. The T.A. will wander around from group to group to try and explain, but often times this means explaining the same thing to 5 different groups and putting the groups that got help last even farther behind which is a poor management of the class time.
129. very fun, and it was amazing to get our final project in the green twice
130. Recitations always improved my skills and the activities were fun.
131. The hands-on exercises after a lecture help out a lot on understanding the material
133. Some recitations were more helpful than others.

How does the homework system compare to other systems you may have used?
1. It is better than blackboard in my opinion.
2. I enjoy the homework system, but unlike others, this system takes off points for trying. I don't think that's productive. Maybe have a ten try limit with full credit to then and 50% after 10.
3. Great because it gives more chances to attempt the problem with minimal points taken away.
4. I like it! I like how you can answer dozens of times instead of it being plain wrong after 3-4 tries. Much better than WebAssign (not as glitchy)
5. It is better.
6. I like it better because we are able to get help from instructors and hints on some questions.
8. I liked using it much more than the other ones I have used (webassign, masteringchemistry). The hints were very helpful in pushing me in the right direction and the discussion board was really useful.
10. good
12. Compared to my organic homework system, it was similar, always very helpful
13. It was better because it really helped me understand the concepts and the question boards/hints helped me when I got stuck
14. I like the system and especially having hints and the discussion board for it. Others did not have that option.
15. Much better, so much easier to get to
16. It is far better. It runs much smoother, and the discussion board is unique as well.
17. I like it.
18. I prefer it to webassign.
19. It was better than other homework systems I have used.
20. The homework system is similar to webassign which I have used for Calculus 1 and Calculus 2. The only difference is the fact that there was never really a final due date on the homework in this class, even though it came with a penalty.
22. I very much enjoyed having the hints that let you know when you were close to the right answer. In systems such as mastering chemistry, students sometimes use all of their trys when they were only off by a factor of two on the first try.
23. This was the first time using an online homework system, so there are comparisons to be made.
24. It runs more smoothly.
25. Annoying
26. The online homework is the most effective teaching tool of this class.
28. Its much better
29. Very organized and fair.
30. It is more organized and offers more help if we get stuck.
31. It's very picky and becomes a huge hassle.
32. I think this one was much more effective than anything I've used.
33. Better than most I've used
34. I wish it could have a give up button and explain how to work it
36. better than most
38. better than web assign
39. Much better
41. I like the discussion board and intermediate value checks. They help me whenever I'm stuck with a problem and usually help me find out the error by myself
42. The only other homework system I have used is Mastering and the EF homework system is by far better.
43. More HW but it works well
44. Very good because it has an answer tolerance and gives you hints and comments back
45. The engineering homework system is much more forgiving than other online homework systems such as WebAssign.
46. much better than the other systems!
49. Decent
50. I really enjoy it especially knowing that I can get help right there while doing my hw.
51. It is about the same.
53. very good hw system, once again showing the effort you guys have put into the class
54. It was more refined, webassign is just a mess compared to this.
55. I liked this one better than the ones I have used in the past.
56. its better
57. Good
58. allows you to try more than once and gives helpful feedback
60. Easy to understand and helpful when needed
62. i like web assign better
63. Most homework today is done online. I like how the system incorporated hints into the homework. The discussion tool was also a plus.
64. The assignments were frustrating but effective.
65. Some of the problems were just way too difficult! Monsters!
66. It is my favorite.
68. It's pretty useful
69. good compares to others.
70. This takes do much time to do
71. I've never used other online homework systems before, so I can't really compare this one to others.
72. Different because other systems give an example problem that looks the same
73. The homework system worked better then most other online homework systems.
74. This one is by far the best system I have worked with.
75. more restrictive. if all the homework could have a 100% rate within a week instead of three days, it would have been more effective because not everyone has the time to them during the weekdays
76. Good
77. I really like the discussion board, the intermediate value checks, and the hints. Any other system I used didn't have those and they count off approximately 20% for each chance taken.
78. like is 102833832x better then webassign and mastering
79. no
80. I haven't had online homework for the most part.
81. Quite well. It was quite easy to use and the discussion board helped a lot.
82. I like this system better than others because there is a live discussion board. Most other sites have common hints that are not personalized to fit what is really hindering you from obtaining the answer.
83. This homework system was challenging, but very helpful. I like the opportunity to get extra credit on the homework if completed early.
84. I have not had to do that much homework for other classes but it was helpful.
85. This was a lot more in depth
86. It's unique and I have never used anything similar to it before.
87. The EF homework system is by far the best homework system I have used so far. I wish my other classes switched to a more similar system.
88. Better than all of the others.
90. It was the best homework system I've ever used.
91. Really solid system. Hints, Intermediate value checks, and comments were a lot of help.
92. Better than all other homework systems.
93. Beats webassign by longshot
94. This is a better homework system and I like it because it converts your answers.
96. Ef's homework website is the best ive used hands down.
97. I haven't used other homework system to complete homework.
98. it is the best online homework system i have used.
99. none
100. Gives multiple chances if answer is wrong and even hints to why if close.
101. It was great!
102. more tedeous
103. This was the best math related online homework system that I have used at my time at UT.
107. Better than most online hw systems, but still a pain.
108. It's very helpful.
109. I think that it is up there with web assign on how helpful it can be
110. Does a good job.
111. Much better than Mastering physics/chemistry/and the like. I like it very much. Keep it going.
112. not very well because it does not provide feedback! or examples to go by
113. Much more difficult but much more helpful.
114. Easier to access material to help with HW
115. Homework is a lot more challenging, but useful
116. Very favorably. Once again, this system has been custom tailored to this class, and fits it like a glove.
117. Lots of hours spent on homework, but I learned a lot from them.
119. I have never used any other online homework system
120. It's good an gives you adequate problems, however it was a pain
121. LOVED IT BETTEER
122. Its easier to use than most of the other sites we had to use.
123. It's much more simple.
124. it's alright.
126. This was my favorite homework system I've used.
127. .
128. It's about the same as webassign which is an alright approach to more of just plain math problems, but when considering the concepts behind the questions it works poorly. An approach more along the lines of Mastering Chemistry would be much more helpful.
129. I absolutely love it!
130. The EF homework system is way better than any other homework system. It doesn't lag and the materials available such as the discussion board are huge helps.
131. I felt that the homework system used was a much better system than the other ones being used by other classes.
133. This homework site was good and organized, but I like that other websites provide more help when you get stuck on a problem.

General comments/suggestions for improving the homework system:
3. N/A
5. Maybe review it in class or something.
8. I really liked how we had the opportunity to do our homework for 110%, it gave me more attempts at solving the problem without worrying about hurting my grade. It also pushed me to get my homework done on time.
10. N/A
11. I found it extremely ridiculous the amount of time spent with homework. 3 hours in lecture a week plus 3 hours in recitation, just to do 2-4 hours of homework a night.
12. A lot of homework, but very helpful
13. It is pretty good as it is.
15. text reminders!
16. The only suggestion I can think of is if somebody is stuck on a question and has given multiple tries, for the system to prompt a practice problem that is similar, and will guide you through the practice problem.
17. More IVT, more accurate IVT, less "textbook" hints
24. Possibility for partial credit.
25. N/A
28. Seems fine to me
31. The homework questions should be more similar to examples done in class
32. None. It's great.
33. Helpful with the class.
39. Na
41. None that I can think of, very well put together in my opinion
42. I didn't really have any problems with the homework system.
43. None
46. N/A
49. None
50. I like it the way it is
51. More problems.
54. Make it display a warning if the user did not type any units instead of marking it completely wrong.
55. It can just be really hard to keep up with sometimes.
56. Too much homework
57. n/a
58. none
62. don't give so much. i understand that we need to know it but i am a slow worker and doing that homework like that was incredibly stressful. it hink that if there were less problems for a grade and just a couple for extra credit, it would be more manageable and easier to learn
65. Maybe tone it back slightly?
66. I liked the homework it definitely helped me.
69. I hate that it takes up tries from a miss input unit. It's confusing what units the question asks for.
70. The homework load is too heavy. And no need for the portfolio
71. Homework was kind of a bare sometimes. Some of the problems seemed impossible to start and/or finish.
72. Some questions refer to the textbook when you click on hints. I didn't find it very helpful because I didn't have the textbook.
73. Some of the questions asked in the homework either confusing on what they were asking or very difficult from what we had done in lecture.
74. More intermediate value checks or improved hints, possibly better hints that unlock after a certain amount of tries.
76. Good
78. none
80. I feel like if had had more notes it may have taken less time. I think it was really good to make us problem solve on the questions, but feel with more effective notes I may have understood a bit better. Other than that I feel it was challenging and effective in helping my knowledge of physics grow.
82. Overall very good system.
83. Some problems should have an IVC.
84. Not much else to do
85. Give more time to work on it
88. None
90. N/a
91. N/A
92. Add more intermediate value checks so that people can trace their errors more easily.
93. More intermediate value checks!!
94. So much homework
97. More intermediate value checks.
99. none
100. Less petty with wrong unit and right answer or capitalization.
101. N/a
102. More concepts instead of busy work
103. Some homework questions were a little vague in what needed to be found. It was hard with those know what needed to be done.
107. n/a
108. Possibly have several of them all due at one time instead of some due on Monday, then Wednesday, etc. This way, students with complex schedules can still receive decent credit.
109. Its easy to navigate and the hw questions are always hard which makes the tests easier
111. Maybe have questions similar that are worked out, at least in a outline way, not the whole answer because that would obviously let me get around putting as much effort in.
112. n/a
113. Some of the questions could use more helpful hints.
114. Less Homework days where 2 HWS are due
115. Same as above
116. Love it all around

HOWEVER

PLEASE let us have more than one window open when looking at homework resources. I got so frustrated when I could not have the intermediate values window open at the same time as the discussion board on a problem.
117. Fewer problems or give a little bit daily instead of so much per night
120. Possibly make the problems shorter, but more to the point of what you really want us to know
123. A better eye on the discussion boards.
124. n/a
126. Sometimes the hints would tell you to look at a problem in the book but the textbook for the class is not required. So perhaps instead of referencing the book, the hints could provide a link of some sort to an example of the problem.
127. .
128. It would be a good idea to have on-line practice problems to reference aside from the notes. Often times the hints refer to a text book problem, yet the course doesn't actually require the text book and I know few people who actually have it. It would be especially helpful to have non-graded practice problems with "hints" to work through before attempting the homework problems. Also having the homework graded solely on the answers when all tests are graded on over-all work seems contradictory, so a possibility to get partial credit on questions for the work and not just the answers would be an interesting change to try.
129. I couldn't think of anything, perhaps being a bit more linnet on figures?
130. The homework is fine the way it is.
131. The help section could be a little more extensive so that each student will be able to do each question by themselves.
133. I would provide more access to helpful resources.

41. Sometimes people put up equations on the discussion board and that hindered me from finding out what equation and what numbers to use by myself.
42. It was very helpful to look at questions from previous classes because the questions were basically the same ones I had. It was also helpful in getting started on a difficult problem.

128. It can be a big help, but sometimes a simple statement of "look at your FBD diagram again" really doesn't help. Especially if the student isn't sure if the diagram itself is wrong or the equations they've pulled from it.
129. I didn't know we had one!

Additional comments/suggestions for improving the study room:
3. Study was great the people in the room were really helpful with answering homework questions.
5. VERY GOOD, do not get rid of.
6. Sometimes the staff would not be able to help me with a problem.
8. The first few weeks I used it I had no idea who was a TA besides the ones who were wearing their name tags. Some would just be sitting on their computer and I wouldn't be sure if they were there to study or to help. However, this was a very minor problem considering if I just raised my hand someone would immediately get up, come over and help me.

72. Most of the staff acted like they wanted to help except for one person. I think for the most part the staff should stay the same.
73. I did find that some of the staff was much more helpful then others. The times that I would go is when I knew there would be someone who would not only help but were also friendly and made sure I understood the problem. Also I feel that having the TAs that do recitations should have hours in the study room because they have a better understanding of what we just went over and can better know their students. I this may be difficult since they do already have a busy schedule but Tyler had hours in the study room which helped me and many others since we knew that he was there.

Overall Class

Additional comments/suggestions for improving EF 151:
2. I love the class as a whole. I believe that we should have recitation more often then twice a week because that's where the learning occurs. I believe exams should be given in recitation than in lecture to provide people with more time. I think that there should be a big group project for every module. I feel like everything shouldn't be pushed to the last two weeks of classes.
3. I do not think portfolios should be graded.
5. None, really organized.
6. It is a hard course but very rewarding
10. Homework questions should be explained during the lecture. Way too difficult compared to the lecture examples.
11. Don't require the textbook, I never used it and it was a waste of money. All the material is either provided by you guys or is on the internet. School is already expensive enough, that textbook was useless to me and probably several others.
12. Teachers are great, definitely help me achieve my goals and always were available when I needed help.
13. In lectures the professors should do more homework problems/suggestions because even though we had the notes on the topic, it was sometimes really hard to translate that into the homework.
16. As for the textbook, the only reason I chose "probably not" was because I feel like the professors along with the online homework was sufficient enough. If somebody was not understanding the material, then I think the textbook would be a good source for them.
23. Great class with an organized curriculum and sequencing of material.
24. Overall, EF 151 is well taught and organized. Access to past exams and keys is very helpful.

26. Excellent class that has difficult material but is well taught and structured.
28. Again, better time management in class
30. Study sessions (led by TAs) that meets a couple times a week for open questions and review of material. (Chemistry has study sessions like this before exams and it has been very helpful)
31. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot this semester.
32. Great class with great staff. Enjoyed the challenge
33. Good class
38. Don't use hints that say "see example x in the book" since there's not a required book.
39. Not much
41. I can honestly say this was the most interesting and fun class I've had so far in college. I love how the class is taught and put together. Really enjoyed my time here!
42. The biggest problem is that lectures were often cut short and not all the material was covered.
43. More hands on labs like the final one
44. Introduce the poster for the final project more than two days before its due....
45. The reviews for the exam seem very inaccurate to the actual exam. If you go only by the lecture and recitation reviews, you will likely encounter problems that were not on the reviews. I feel the reviews, instead of being an example exam, should show exactly what you need to know to be prepared for the exam.

63. A required textbook would be essential, IF the lectures came out of the text book. I never bought the textbook thinking I would never use it. There were times I wanted to use the text book, but a friend who had taken EF 151 the previous semester said the book didn't cover the material as good as the notes did.
66. I think the last test was a little tough but besides that it was a fun course.
69. The class is amazing, and absolutely helpful for our upcoming classes. However, the amount of Hws is insane, and the extra credit time should be extended to at least 2 days.
70. Good, thank you all
71. Overall, the class was great. It was very challenging, and I learned a lot. Prof. Schleter and Prof. McCord were great, and Tyler was awesome. They were very genuine and sincere when helping and teaching students.
72. I think it would be easier if two homework's were not due on Mondays.
73. The homework in general was to long in my opinion. The last few slides in lecture were always rushed through.
74. Loved the teachers and the TA's enthusiasm and the mood of the class and how exciting they were to teach it.
76. Great!

80. I feel that this class is well put together and felt like there was a way to succeed with all the resources available to help students. The teachers made Physics fun and made me love the subject even more! Both treated me as an equal and were very helpful when asking questions. I believe the notes could be a changed a bit for the better. Something similar to this may be a helpful suggestion->

82. I brag on the engineering dept a lot because of the way it is set up for success. I have attended other universities where the structure of the courses was to throw you off track and trick you. That is not the case in the College of Engineering here. I feel like everyone wants you to learn how to apply the knowledge in a very practical way instead of just a theoretical way.

96. Ef was one of my hardest but also my most enjoyable class because i feel like we actually learn things that are useful to us.
97. Overall, It is a great class. I like the way it is structured, other than the few comments I have posted, I cannot think of anything.

102. The homework was definitely a workload but if that is the only way then i guess it is the best way
103. Overall the class is taught fairly well and if you have the determination to become an engineer you can pass.
107. Shorter homeworks.
108. Remove team projects. This class should already be a 8 credit hour course and you're not helping with those projects. No one learns anything. It's purely just a huge stress.
109. I like it how it is. If there is any change i don't believe it should be drastic
112. tests should last 1 hour. if i had one hour, my grades on the exam could have been better.
114. Easy to learn
115. Great Semester!
116. I have only one.

The requirement to document ALL homework is a bit savage. This ate up hours upon hours of my time, and I know it swallowed up hours more of other students'.

The trouble is that often times, the way to finish a homework problem is not clear, even when thinking about it carefully. The whole point of homework is to throw new stuff at you that you haven't encountered before, and while material learned in class gives you the key to finding the answer, it certainly doesn't give you an exact algorithm. I used up/wasted a lot of unnecessary paper, and missed a lot more points/deadlines than I needed to because of this requirement.

Eventually, I gave up documenting all my homework so I could just get it done in time. It IS a valuable practice, I agree. But I think it should apply to a limited number of homeworks, rather than to all.
117. it is very well laid out

123. I think the class should remain the same. My favorite class for sure.
124. I thought it was a very well taught class. I just wish I would have studied more.
126. I enjoyed the overall structure of the class and thought it provided the resources needed to succeed.

129. Free snacks at lectures!
130. The class was very good. It was a lot of work but that should be expected of an engineering class. The tests were hard but studying for them was easy to do with old exam videos. I liked 151 despite how challenging it was.
133. EF is a lot of material I think the course was good, but I should have scheduled more time to complete homework/review material to do better on my own.
